The Programs We Support

H&M supports communities through grants and in-kind donations. This support is provided both to local community organizations as well as global and national partners that reach broader communities where H&M employees and customers live and work.

We manage our own projects and also work with international organizations such as UNICEF and WaterAid. Our view is that the more people there are working toward sustainable improvements for people and the environment, the better. We are always careful to closely monitor the projects we are involved in to make sure that progress is being made.

Here are some of the programs and partners we support in the United States:

American Cancer Society - H&M is a national “Awareness and Relationship” partner with the American Cancer Society (ACS) for their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative. H&M employees—along with their friends, family and customers—participate in these grassroots, community-based 5K walks that take place throughout the country and help raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of fighting cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient services.

H&M also promotes awareness through special Making Strides window displays, the distribution of American Cancer Society educational materials in our stores and the acceptance of customer donations at the point of sale.

Gifts In Kind International – Throughout the year, H&M donates apparel to nonprofit organizations that meet certain philanthropic guidelines. Gifts In Kind International, the leading charity in the field of product donations, manages the product donation program for H&M, distributing donated items to qualified nonprofits that are improving the lives of people in need across the country.

Since 2002, H&M US has donated more than 350 pallets of its products, worth more than $5 million, to nonprofit and charitable organizations throughout the United States via Gifts In Kind International.
